Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs, beaten

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

2 cups marinara sauce

1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.

Prepare Chicken: Season the chicken breasts on both sides with salt and pepper.

Dredging Setup: Set up a dredging station with three shallow bowls. In the first bowl, add the flour. In the second bowl, beat the eggs. In the third bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt and pepper.

Coat the Chicken: Dip each chicken breast in the flour, shaking off the excess. Next, immerse it in the beaten eggs, allowing excess to drip off. Finally, coat the chicken with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing it lightly to adhere well.

Bake Chicken: Place the coated chicken breasts on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F (75°C)).

Add Marinara and Cheese: Remove the chicken from the oven. Spoon marinara sauce generously over each piece of chicken, then top with shredded mozzarella cheese.

Finish Baking: Return the chicken to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and melted.

Serve: Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil if desired. Serve with pasta, a side salad, or garlic bread.
