Ingredients

1 fully cooked bone-in ham (5-7 lbs)

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup Dijon mustard

1/4 cup honey

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

1 teaspoon ground cloves

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup water

Fresh rosemary and thyme sprigs for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).

Prepare the Ham: Place the ham on a rack in a roasting pan. Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern (about 1/4 inch deep). This will help the glaze penetrate and enhance flavor.

Make the Glaze: In a medium bowl, combine brown sugar, Dijon mustard, honey, apple cider vinegar, ground cloves, cinnamon, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and well blended.

Add Water: Pour the water into the bottom of the roasting pan to keep the ham moist while it cooks.

Glaze the Ham: Use a brush to generously apply the glaze all over the ham, ensuring it gets into the scored areas.

Roast the Ham: Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes per pound, totaling around 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Remove the foil during the last 30 minutes to allow the glaze to caramelize and develop a nice crust.

Baste Occasionally: Every 30 minutes, basting the ham with the pan juices will add extra flavor and moisture.

Check for Doneness: Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature, which should reach 140°F (60°C) for heated prepared ham.

Rest and Serve: Once done, remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing. This rest period will keep the juices in the ham.

Garnish (Optional): Serve garnished with fresh rosemary and thyme sprigs for an aromatic touch.
