Instructions

Prepare the Chalupa Shells:

    - In a mixing bowl, blend the masa harina and salt. Gradually add warm water until a dough forms.

      - Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and shape each into a ball.

        - Press each ball into a flat circle using a tortilla press or by pressing between two sheets of plastic wrap.

          - Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry each shell for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.

            Cook the Filling:

              - In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.

                - Stir in the taco seasoning and add a splash of water. Cook for an additional 5 minutes until mixed and the flavors meld.

                  Prepare the Taco Sauce:

                    - In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, water, white vinegar, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste.

                      Assemble the Chalupa:

                        - On each chalupa shell, layer cooked beef, diced tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, onions, and olives if using.

                          - Drizzle with your homemade taco sauce and top with a dollop of sour cream.

                            Serve and Enjoy:

                              - Garnish with chopped cilantro, if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade Chalupa Supreme!
