Ingredients

2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and quartered

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh chives or parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Cook the Potatoes: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the quartered potatoes and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes. You can check doneness by poking them with a fork; if they slide off easily, they are ready.

Sauté the Garlic: While the potatoes are cooking, melt the butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to let it burn. Remove from heat and set aside.

Drain and Mash: Once the potatoes are cooked, drain them and return them to the pot. Begin mashing them with a potato masher or a ricer until smooth.

Mix in Ingredients: Gradually stir in the heavy cream, sautéed garlic and butter mixture, and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix until creamy and well combined. If the potatoes are too thick, add a bit more heavy cream until you reach your desired consistency.

Season: Taste the mashed potatoes and season generously with salt and pepper. Mix until well combined.

Garnish and Serve: Transfer the creamy garlic Parmesan mashed potatoes to a serving bowl and sprinkle with chopped chives or parsley for freshness. Serve warm as a delightful side dish!
