Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

2 large eggs

1/2 cup milk

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups peeled and diced apples (about 2 medium)

1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan with non-stick spray or butter.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well combined.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.

Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix. Gently fold in the diced apples, ensuring they’re evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Bake the Bread: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake in the preheated oven for about 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top begins to brown too quickly, you may loosely cover it with aluminum foil.

Make the Glaze: While the bread is cooling, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of milk until smooth. Adjust the consistency as needed by adding more powdered sugar or milk.

Cool and Glaze: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Drizzle the glaze over the top of the cooled bread.

Serve: Slice the bread and enjoy it warm or at room temperature, perhaps with a cup of coffee or tea.
