Ingredients

200g kataifi pastry

100g unsalted butter, melted

150g pistachios, shelled and roughly chopped

200g dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher)

100g sweetened condensed milk

50g powdered sugar (for dusting)

A pinch of salt

Optional: Edible gold leaf for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a 9x9 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.

Prepare the Kataifi: In a large mixing bowl, take the kataifi pastry and gently separate the strands. Pour the melted butter over it and mix well until all strands are coated with butter.

Layer the Pastry: Spread half of the buttered kataifi evenly into the prepared baking pan, pressing it down gently to form a solid layer.

Add the Pistachios: Sprinkle the roughly chopped pistachios evenly over the first layer of kataifi.

Create the Chocolate Topping: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the dark chocolate and sweetened condensed milk together, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and add a pinch of salt.

Pour and Spread: Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the pistachio layer, spreading it evenly with a spatula.

Finish with Kataifi: Top with the remaining kataifi pastry, pressing it down lightly to secure it.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 15 minutes.

Chill: Once cooled, transfer the pan to the refrigerator and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to set.

Cut and Serve: Once set, carefully lift the kataifi bar out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Dust with powdered sugar and cut into squares or bars. If desired, garnish each piece with a touch of edible gold leaf for an extravagant presentation.

Enjoy: Serve your Pistachio Kataifi Chocolate Bars to friends and family and watch them delight in this unique flavor combination!
