Ingredients

12 lasagna noodles, broken into pieces

1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage

1 medium onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 bell pepper, diced (any color)

1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce

1 can (15 oz) ricotta cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup shredded provolone cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tsp Italian seasoning

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Olive oil, for cooking

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Cook the Noodles: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the broken lasagna noodles and cook until al dente according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

Brown the Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, add a drizzle of olive oil. Add the ground beef or sausage and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Add Vegetables: Add the diced onion and bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables soften. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.

Combine Sauce and Seasoning: Pour in the marinara sauce and mix well. Add Italian seasoning and red pepper flakes if you're using them. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes.

Create Layers: Stir the cooked lasagna noodles into the meat sauce mixture, ensuring all pieces are well-coated.

Add Cheese: Drop spoonfuls of ricotta cheese over the noodle mixture, then sprinkle with mozzarella and provolone cheese. Finally, top with grated Parmesan for an extra cheesy crust.

Cover and Bake: Reduce heat to low and cover the skillet with a lid. Allow it to cook for about 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Garnish and Serve: Once done, remove from heat and let it sit for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious Pizza Lasagna Skillet Bake!
